Today's post is another super fun outfits of the week post! As for now, these are the snapshots of my outfits I shared on my Instagram @welldressedash as I am buried up to my nose  in AP exam review books.

Visiting the Place I Love

I recently visited my future home(aka the college I'll be attending next year), Wake Forest University. I was a bit resistant to go at first because it was not great timing. It was a week before prom, AP exam crunch time, and all of the end of the year projects were piling up, but I decided to go anyway, and I'm so glad I did. Visiting allowed me to escape from it all and allowed me to refocus. I now feel ready to conquer the end of the school year. I also feel extremely excited to be heading off to college so soon! So for today's post, I thought I would share some of my favorite pictures and moments from the weekend.
Wake Forest's mascot is the Demon Deacon, people are always so confused what that is. This is what a Demon Deacon is!

Excuse the hair, but I thought this picture was so cool! My dad is planning on buying season football tickets, so we were able to get a tour of the stadium which was fun. I can't wait to be cheering on the deacs next year!

Despite the rain the Quad and chapel still look beautiful, this was my outfit for accepted students day!

I'm definitely going to miss my family next year, but I'm trying to enjoy every moment with them while I still can. But I'm sure they'll want to come visit this gorgeous  place!

I was so excited to get to show my grandparents around my favorite place! And aren't they so cute, they were matching!

The Wait Chapel looking beautiful on a sunny spring day! I'm so lucky to be able to call this place home soon.

We also visited Reynolda Garden, which I had never done before. It was gorgeous! Definitely something to check out if you are ever in Winston-Salem, NC.

That was my trip in a nutshell! If you are on the hunt for your perfect college, check out these posts(1, 2, 3). And remember, sometimes you need to take a break to help you refocus and recharge.

A Letter to the Girl who Hates High School

To the girl who hates high school,
I get it, I really do there is a lot to hate about high school, the lying girls, the jerk guys, the hours of homework, the constant pressure, I could go on and on. But the reality is those people, those things don't define your high school experience. High school is about learning. Learning about life and learning in the classroom. In high school, you'll encounter someone that you'll confide in but they'll betray you. The next year or the next month you'll find someone else and do the same. Whether that person ends up betraying you or not doesn't really matter. What matters is that you were hurt but you learned to trust again. You learned from it, you grew from it. You realized that one person's mistake doesn't define society as a whole. That one girl was just a step on the path to finding your best friend. On the other hand, you'll most likely have several nights where the pile of homework just seems too overwhelming. In the end, you'll do that history essay and that calculus worksheet and you'll be proud of yourself when you're done. You'll be proud of yourself when you make an A on your calculus test the next week because you put in the effort doing the homework. You'll be proud of yourself as you share interesting facts about the French Revolution with your dad. And you know why you'll be proud, you'll be proud because you learned. Suddenly the hours of work and the hours of hearing your teacher ramble on and on are not a waste but an asset. At some point in high school, your plans will crumble. You'll have all these goals and dreams and in that moment, nothing will seem to be working out. But you'll learn from it, you'll learn to have faith that things will work out the way they are supposed to. That college denial from your dream school that left you in tears will be realized to be probably for the best as you get to go somewhere different that will push you as a person. You'll grow, you'll learn. You'll stress about homecoming and prom trying to find the perfect dress and you'll learn patience. You also learn to have pure fun. You won't be worried about what everyone else is doing just being in the moment and having fun with your friends. You'll experience football games, where you'll learn to have team spirit. You'll laugh with your friends as your school's team struggles to make a touchdown, but it doesn't matter because you are having fun. Your senior year more than anything will make you change your mind. As you experience your last dance, your last football game,  your last banquet, and your last day of school you'll realize this school is more than just a brick building you are trapped in for 8 hours every day, it is a community, it's a home. A place where you learned a lot about yourself. As you reflect on every last you will struggle not to shed a tear remembering all the great memories that happened in this place. As you walk across that stage you will look at your classmates and your teachers and you will not see the friend that broke your heart or the teacher that loaded you down with assignments the night before prom but people that love and support you and want you to succeed. People that want you to learn. So to the girl that hates high school, take each moment as a learning experience. The little things that you spend hours stressing about, really matter little at all. What really matters are the lessons you've learned. As you walk out of the building on the final day, you'll be excited about the future but I  guarantee you in that moment you will not be able to say that you hated high school. Because even though high school is an imperfect wild ride, it is an experience, unlike any other that in the end looking back no one ever wants to lose.

Spring Sandal Picks

I'm the girl that starts wearing sandals the day it starts feeling slightly like spring and as a result has way to many pairs. I love sandals, I mean I really love sandals. So I thought this would be a super fun post to do. My favorite sandals have always been and still are Palm Beach Sandals because they are so classic and can go with anything. Everyone knows of the classic platinum/ gold ones so I thought it would be fun to share my favorite colored ones. This melon color is so fun but also super versatile for spring! How cute would that melon look with chambray and white? The camel Tory Burch sandals are also super classic and I really love the patent look. If you're looking for a brand name pair those are perfect. I also included two affordable pairs because what better way to build up your closet than with some cute pairs less than $30. The tassel ones are just all around cute; they would look adorable with just simple patterned shorts in the summer. I love the Target ones because of the mix of platinum with brown creates sandals that can go with anything. And of course, you can't forget a pair with some jewels! Sandals are so fun to shop for and talk about! Let me know, what's your go-to pair of sandals?

One of the most important things I have learned this year is that expectations stink. It's plain and simple because everytime I set expectations, I end up hurt. I find myself way too often expecting this unattainable great thing and then being disappointed and missing out on the wonderful nature of the moment when it is there. When you set expectations you are setting yourself up for disappointment. You have to be able to just genuinely enjoy every moment no matter what happens; go with the flow and just make the best out of the situation. I think when you are able to get rid of expectations you are able to enjoy many different outcomes of a situation. It may not be the perfect idea that you had, but it will still be enjoyable and memorable. I am not always the best at doing this, for example, I recently went on spring break with my best friend, check out my travel diary. I thought our days would be full of hanging out on the beach talking, riding bikes(laughing about how unblanced we were), and walking to get ice cream at the local shop. I thought our nights would be spent watching the sunset from the beach and then watching movies late into the morning. I had high expectations, almost unreasonably high. So when we got there and ended up basically doing nothing together I found myself having to force myself to still make the best of the situation and enjoy the moments we did spend together and the time I instead spent with my family. I'm not going to lie I spent the morning of the first full day fairly upset, and I regret that beause I missed out on the enjoyment of what we did. Thankfully I was able to overcome that and focus on just making the best of the situation as it was. I had a wonderful time and made memories I will never forget. If I didn't have the expectations, I would have just been able to go into the vacation just wanting to make the best of every day and I would have saved myself from some hurt. You live and you learn. I have learned that expectations most often only result in hurt. It is fine to hope for something, like hoping a cute boy will ask you to dance at your senior prom, but expecting that to happen is just not realistic because you have no control over it. Instead spend your senior prom having a great time with friends and then if a boy asks you celebrate and have a great time with him to. This way if it doesn't happen you didn't spend your whole prom sad no one asked you to dance instead you spent it happily dancing with your friends. It's hard to do, it's hard to push expectations away but If you can I promise you will live a happier life with more happy memories.

Cape San Blas Travel Diary

I recently came back from a super fun vacation at Cape San Blas in Florida. My family loves this beach because it is quiet, pretty, and packed with things to do. Though our trip was short it was full of fun that I wanted to share.

Top: Loft // Shorts: Lilly Pulitzer // Sandals: Jack Rogers
Wednesday was mostly a travel day. We arrived at the beach around 4:30, perfect timing to go for an evening walk on the beach. It was a good walk until it started raining! But that was ok because it didn't rain at all for the rest of the trip. I loved my outfit, these new Lilly shorts paired with a classic white long sleeve tee!

Our day started with going to see the sunrise on the beach. Though it was kind of hazy/cloudy and therefore difficult to see, it was a lot of fun. The perfect way to start the day if you ask me. Plus it forced us to get an early start on the day. This pullover was actually our senior gift from tennis and it was perfect for the chilly, windy morning on the beach paired with leggings.

After eating breakfast we headed to T.H. Stone Memorial St. Joseph Peninsula State Park. This park is the best of both worlds because you can explore both the bay and beach sides of the peninsula. This picture was taken on the bay side where we first began exploring. The bay side was calm and beautiful plus we got to see some unique wildlife.

After exploring the bay side we headed to the beach side. On the beach, I decided to read. I got this book from the library before we left. It is a super fun and easy read; I really enjoyed it. The beach was extremely quiet and perfect for reading or relaxing.

Bathing Suit: Aerie(Top & Bottom) // Hat: Nordstrom
We headed back to our place for lunch and then headed back out to the beach right outside to play in the sand and the waves. This beach was a little more crowded than the one in the park but still pretty quiet. I loved this swimsuit that I got from Aerie, it's different for me but I love it! Also, this floppy hat was perfect for keeping my face out of the sun.

We went out to dinner that night at Provisions, which was very good despite my lack of pictures. It is an Italian restaurant with very fresh food, I definitely recommend it.

After a bit of a late start to our day, we headed to the Cape San Blas lighthouse. The walk to it from the parking lot was gorgeous, a path covered with trees along the water. The lighthouse though not overly exciting is definitely something cool to check out. It is a relatively easy walk up and the view from the top is phenomenal.

Top: Old Navy // Shorts: J.Crew Factory // Sandals: Jack Rogers // Hat: Vineyard Vines
After the lighthouse, we decided to explore downtown. We got some ice cream and explored some of the local boutiques. Persnickety is too cute, tons of monogram and preppy products. The downtown area is home to lots of fun colored walls and buildings that are perfect for pictures. I definitely would recommend taking some time to grab some ice cream and wander around the town.

Sweatshirt: Wake Forest // Jeans: Levi's // Clip: J.Crew Factory
That night we headed to the beach to watch the sunset. I had so much fun taking pictures with my sister and goofing off on the beach. The Florida sunsets are gorgeous and I definitely recommend heading out there to see one for yourself. The sunset is always the perfect conclusion for a beach trip.

Saturday we headed home, back to reality. Cape San Blas is by far my favorite beach and I definitely recommend going there for your next beach vacation. If you do decide to go here are a few other recommendations from past times I have been at the Cape, I recommend checking out Cone Heads(was closed for renovations this time) for some super yummy ice cream and renting or bringing bikes to ride in the park. I always leave Cape San Blas wanting to buy a beach house of my own there.
