Letter to My Freshman Self

Dear Freshman Me,
First things first, loosen up. Sing in the car, dance around your room, stop worrying every once in a while and just follow your passions I promise it is worth it. High school is going to be an uphill battle for you, but you're going to treasure every moment of it. Every experience will only make you stronger and make you cherish the good things. You are going to struggle, really struggle to find a good group of friends, but I promise by senior year you will have a best friend and a couple of other close friends. The thing is your best friend is someone you would have never expected, but it makes sense she was always meant to be therefore you. Be open to people and also remember that people can change. Take changes because sometimes they will change your life for the better. One of your other close friends you haven't met yet and won't until your junior year and the other you have been friends with since 8th grade. You are also going to struggle to find where you fit in, but your sophomore year it's all going to fall into place. You'll fall in love with community service and discover that you actually like playing a sport. Pursue these things they are the things that make high school worth it. Volunteer as often as you can. Pursue leadership roles, I promise the more involved you are the better. You'll never forget the memories spent laughing and having fun with your tennis team. You're going to do great in school though you will always be disappointed that you didn't do better. Don't do that putting that much pressure on yourself isn't good. Be happy with how well you do it really is something to be proud of, it's ok not to get the best grade as long as you are learning and doing your best. You are going to take the hardest classes. Some of your classes are going to really push and challenge you. You'll have some awesome teachers though and that will make it all worthwhile. Get to know your teachers, talk to them daily and connect with them. They care about you and they really do want you to succeed. Ask for help when you need it, do it! I know you don't want to but in some classes, this will be your saving grace. I'll admit it you probably took way more AP classes than you should have, but you thrive off the challenge. Embrace the challenge and always work your hardest. You know yourself well, so do what you are comfortable with your counselor isn't always right. You'll stress about finding and getting into your dream college. You'll spend weeks researching and touring colleges all around, but you'll find your place and spoiler alert you'll get to go there. You'll get in early decision and you will be absolutely over the moon. You will think that you can beat senioritis, but even you can't survive it. It's ok to skip a day, sometimes you really do need it. Your life isn't really going to come together until your senior year, the second semester of your senior year you will make some of the best memories of your life. You will make memories every weekend. High school isn't like high school musical, but high school is really important. It's not the best time of your life, but it's a time to learn and make memories that will last you for the rest of your life. Graduation day will come and you'll walk across the stage and you'll actually be a little sad, sad because high school was such a large part of your life and it's difficult to just walk away from. Cherish every moment, every day even in the days you are counting down the seconds until you get out because you honestly find yourself in high school and it would stink to miss out on any second of that.

Love,
Senior Me

Monday Morning Inspiration

I love Monday mornings, call me crazy but there is something magical about the start of a new week. New possibilities, new memories, new challenges all ready to come at you. But it also marks the start of putting the past in the past, that bad test grade, the boy who ignored you, the friend who blew you off all are a part of last week. Put those things in the past and move on because the new week brings new opportunities. No matter what this week throws at you take it one step at a time and know that the best things will become memories and the worst things will be forgotten by next Monday. Be brave, be bold, and take chances this week.

Coping with Sadness: Put on your Pajamas, Get in Bed, and Cry About It

Maybe you're sad because your best friend is untrustworthy, maybe you're sad because your boyfriend broke up with you, or maybe you're sad because you just had a bad day, no matter what it is that is tugging at your heart let me just say everything is going to be ok. No matter how bad it gets, no matter how badly you are treated there is always a way out. But you must not give up. Take time for yourself and then stand back up and show the world how strong you are. If you feel like you are so overwhelmed with emotion that you aren't sure what to do, do these few things. First, ignore your responsibilities; I know there are so many things going on in your life that you may feel like you can't  but trust me you need to do it. It's always more important to take care of yourself. Second, take a shower and blast your favorite song to prevent yourself from letting your mind go crazy, sing and dance and just try to be genuinely happy for a few minutes. Then, put on your super comfy pajamas and get in your bed; I don't care if it is 8 in the morning or 5 at night just cuddle up in bed. Finally, cry about it let all your emotions out. For some people it works best to just turn off the lights and sob for me I like to write my feelings down in a notebook or on my phone. I don't worry about sentences or grammar I just write down how I am feeling. Depending on what happened you may not feel better right away it may take time. But after you let your emotions out I guarantee you will feel 10x better. Take care of yourself, because you are worth it. I'm not by any means saying for you guys to avoid your problems. Once you get in bed and are calm confront your problem and get ready to come back stronger. But don't rush up, the world will wait for you to come back when you are ready. Just make sure you stand back up at some point and come back with a little more confidence in yourself.

The Little Things

I live for the simplest things in life: tulips & peonies, people in love, snow, and travel. Sometimes I wonder if a scroll through these photos is capable of lighting up anyone else's world as much as it is mine. If not then at least you can have a look at my life and the things I get joy from. It's a simple post, but I hope at least one of these photos brings a smile to your face.
None of these photos belong to me, all were retrieved from Tumblr

What makes you guys happy?

Finding Yourself Instead: An Important Note on Valentine's Day

I know Valentine's day is a hard and discouraging holiday for a lot of people including myself. I feel like I'm always doubting myself and wondering why I don't have a boyfriend or why I am not in a relationship. I just have to tell myself that it's not time. I must fall in love with myself before I can fall in love with someone else. It is about being able to do things by yourself and be content with it. Learning to take care of yourself and look out for your own interests. It's all about knowing your worth. I think this is crucial for a happy relationship because if you aren't confident in yourself then you won't know what standards to hold your boyfriend to. I think it is very important to respect yourself, so that if someone tries to push it too far you are able to say no and hold your ground. That way you know how to get out of a toxic relationship or a relationship that is not going anywhere. I think I really am starting to truly feel confident in myself, it takes time but I feel like I know what I want and am not willing to settle. I encourage you guys to have a faith in timing that everything will happen for a reason. I know it is really hard and it may feel like it is never going to ever come, but the truth is if it is not here just be patient and work on yourself. And for all of those in a relationship, I hope you know the value of yourself in the relationship. I'm a little bit jealous of you, but I'm content. And for all you single girls like me put on your favorite outfit, curl your hair, and go out and get ice cream with your best friends. Life is way to valuable to waste a day sulking around. Check out the quotes bellow as well as my Tumblr for some inspiration!

Dorm Room Haul-Part 1

I'm so excited to be accepted to college and as a result, I have started dorm shopping! I'm going with the color scheme of kelly green, navy, and white with gold accents. I wanted to show you guys the things that I have gotten so far. There will be lots of these posts to follow and probably a complete video haul once I get everything, so fair warning this is the first of many. I have gotten my bedding, some desk accessories, and some other room decor.
This is the bedding I got. It is the Peyton Duvet Cover in Kelly Green from PB Teen. I also got the pillowcases to match. I'm not planning on opening the packaging until I get to school, because I know once I open it I won't be able to get it back to the size it came so please excuse that I had to use the stock photo from PB Teen's website. I love this bedding; the color is perfect and I love the pattern! Plus I wanted colored bedding so if I get something on it, it won't be as noticeable as if I had white.

I want my desk accessories to be gold and acrylic, so any gold desk accessories that I have seen I have bought. I think my desk is going to look so cute and these items are perfect to help studying seem a little bit more fun. I can't wait to use them!
Stapler: Target
Scissors: Target
Paper Clips: Staples

I have gotten a few other gold items that I am going to use as decor. I am planning to use the jar for my makeup brushes. I thought the gold bin would be great for storage under my bed and the catch-all tray will be great to keep my everyday jewelry and other knick knacks. I think the gold letter will be super cute either on a gallery wall or just on my desk!
Gold Stripe Jar: Hobby Lobby
Catch All Tray: Target-Can't find it online, but I got it recently so you should be able to find it in store.
Gold Bin: Home Goods-Not available online, but I got it recently so you should be able to find it in store.
Gold Letter: Kirklands-Can't find it online, but I got it recently so you should be able to find it in store.

I know there are still like 7 months until I go to college, but I'm trying to buy things slowly so I don't end up spending hundreds of dollars at once. I'm not using this stuff until I go to college so I've just been resisting the urge to put it all out in my room right now. I hope you guys enjoyed this post and look forward to many of these posts in the future!
