Things To-Do Now to Prepare for a Great Senior Year

Senior year is one of the best years but it is also an extremely difficult year full of decisions and choices. Making the best use of your summer before your senior year is the way to make sure you keep your year stress free. These are some of the things that helped me to have a successful year!

1. Create a Resume
A resume is a senior year life savor whether you use it as the basis for your college application, for scholarships, to apply to a leadership position or a summer job. Having all of your involvement and experience in one place keeps you organized and prepared in a pinch.

2. Finalize your College List
Finish up your college tours and make your college list. Summer is the perfect time to get organized.  It's best to know where are you going to apply early, which schools are your safeties, etc. Make a list that will help keep you organized in a sea of applications and deadlines.

3. Begin Working on your Essays
Some colleges you apply to may have their own applications and they may open up sometime over the summer. If this is the case you should capitalize on it and get started early. If not you can simply start working on the common app and brainstorming ideas. Getting started on this over the summer is a big help because the last thing you want to while navigating senior year is write more essays.

4. Make a Calendar of Important Dates
Once you have your college list, write down all of the dates for applications, scholarships, and any other due dates. This will be a lifesaver because on top of school work and senior year it's easy to lose track of dates. It also may be helpful to make a more detailed plan of who you need to ask for teacher recommendations and test scores to get them in on time.

5. Don't Forget to Have Fun
Senior year should be more than constantly working on applications. You should definitely make time to enjoy life. Make a bucket list of things you want to do senior year so that you can make sure you don't miss out on any more of the final memories of high school.

I hope these are helpful! If you are a rising senior I hope you are excited for one of the best years of your life. But if you've been through senior year share some of your tips for making the most of it in the comments!
