What I Plan to Do Differently This Upcoming School Year

For me freshman year was nothing short of a learning experience, I learned a lot about myself but also about the person I want to become. This summer I've had a lot of time to think about things that I want to differently going into my sophomore year. I absolutely loved my freshman year, but plan to make my sophomore year even better!

1. Study More Efficiently
I would spend hours sitting with friends 'studying' then get upset when I didn't get the best grade on my test. I don't study well with other people around, for me studying really is a solitary activity. I study best when I'm focused completely on what I'm doing and not distracted by wanting to socialize with friends. So this year I'm going to make the effort to study in a way that works for me so that I can feel confident that I did my best.

2. Exercise
Honestly, I don't think the thought of ever doing exercise crossed my mind throughout my freshman year. Honestly, I would see people headed to the gym or running around campus and wonder why in the world they were putting themselves through that torture. But since starting to run and exercise this summer, I've realized how great it makes you feel and how wonderful it is for your body and mind. So I'm hoping to stick with it this semester. Though this in no way means I'll be eating fewer doughnuts, ice cream, or french fries; I'm still whole heartedly a member of the junk food club.

3. Do More of What Makes Me Happy
I started doing this more the second semester of my freshman year, but I'm hoping to whole heartedly fling myself into it this year. I'm going to take the time to do the things that bring me joy. It may be devoting a day to blogging, going shopping by myself one afternoon, or simply eating my favorite meal and doing a face mask. I'm going to stop being such a people pleaser and begin to find pleasure from within myself.

4. Be More Outgoing/ Friendly/ Positive
I'm a quiet, introverted person, I'll admit it to anyone and everyone. But this year I'm going to try and beat it the best I can. I'll start out small with a smile and a friendly greeting and work up to being the type of person that people long to be around. The type of person that is so cheerful and positive they bring a smile to your face. I want to make more friends and connections and share my caring heart.

5. Have More Fun
I also started doing this more the second semester of my freshman year, but I want to take time away from school and work to do something that is fun with friends. Maybe it's a fun weekend adventure, a night out or simply a dinner with friends. College is the time to do things you may otherwise not have the opportunity to, and I plan to take advantage of everything I can. While school will be a very large part of my life, I will not let it consume all my time.

This post was more for me, but for you other college girls out there maybe something in this post spoke to you and helped you out. I hope you all have a great Monday!
