My Take on Finding Happiness

I think there is something to learn about life from social media, I know, hold on let me explain. On social media, everyone is always capturing their best moments, their happiest points throughout the day. I do it, you do it, and you know what, I love that we all do it. Because I think that that is how you should always look at life. At the end of the day, you should see the happiest things, you shouldn't see the negative. In your mind, your week should look a lot like your Instagram feed, the best moments from each day in a perfectly "candid" shot. But it's hard to always see the good.

Sometimes I'm angry or sad or disappointed and I'm sitting at home scrolling through my Instagram feed and I see some girl studying abroad in Paris and someone else just got engaged. It's hard because it makes you feel like how could your life ever compare. How do you ever compete with the elation of getting engaged? Well, the truth is you can't. You shouldn't want to anyway because that would make it loose it's magic and it's sparkle. You come to terms with enjoying the little everyday joys, like having your meal paid for in the drive through or making it to work on time when you thought you were going to be late.

Here's what I do. At the end of each day, I think about if I was to post an Instagram today, highlighting the best moment what would it be. It doesn't have to be something big. Usually, it's something simple like words of appreciation from my boss after a long shift or my mom making my favorite meal for dinner. We all are going to have those super happy days, like when you see your family after several months apart or you get an A on that test you spent forever preparing for. But we all know those moments are amazing, it's learning to appreciate everyday wonders that really changes your life.

I think having a blog has made me a more positive person, I think a lot of the time it makes me realize some of my best moments. You all see me share happy things from getting accepted to my dream school to finding a shirt I love on a great sale. Even posts I share about my personal struggles, share some of my best moments because they showed that I had the strength to pick myself back up again. Honestly, there is so much to love about life, I truly believe that and I think that makes all the difference.
