Beginning of Sophomore Year Life Update

Going back to school for sophomore year consists of a wide range of emotions. I was excited to go back and see all my friends, I was not ready for the increased workload, and I was a little nervous about things turning out differently. I don't like change and I had a feeling starting sophomore year wouldn't be exactly like picking up right where freshman year left off. I was right and I struggled with dealing with the changes. I was living far away from some of my friends, I wanted to make new friends, I was facing writer's block with my blog, and I just felt stuck. I wasn't sure exactly what I was doing, but I've been doing my best to have fun and enjoy my year.

So that's why I've been a little MIA on the blog and Instagram, I've been trying to figure out exactly what I'm doing. While It's no freshman year adjustment, it's still an adjustment that I've needed to deal with. But I used this past weekend to pour my heart into the blog to make sure I can keep up with it throughout this new semester. I love writing it and it's definitely not an area of my life that I want to sacrifice.

My first week back was spent as a student adviser helping the incoming freshman class through their orientation program. It was a lot of long days, but it was rewarding to be able to help them through this time of great change. I got to move in early which was nice, as it was super easy to park close and unload, and I got to get my room all set-up before my roommates showed up. It was a fun week, but by the end, I was definitely ready for classes to start and to get into my routine.

I also have worked a few shifts at my new job at J.Crew Mercantile. I have really loved getting used to the new store and meeting all my new coworkers. It's a lot different than my outlet mall store at home because it is a lot less busy and there are a lot more regulars. But I'm really enjoying it so far and I look forward to working there this school year. I'm set to start my work study this Thursday, and I can't wait to head back to the Ronald McDonald House as it was definitely one of my favorite parts of my freshman year.

Last Monday I began classes, I wasn't really sure about getting back into it. It's been a long 4 months since I did any school work, and I set goals for myself to work hard and do better this upcoming year. But I've been really loving my classes. They are interesting and I really enjoy my professors. I think it's going to be a great year of exploring my interests and hopefully declaring a major. The work load hasn't been too bad, but the stack of books for my English and philosophy classes is a bit daunting.

Here's to change, here's to discovery, and here's to an amazing new school year.
